Nate's Commercial Real Estate Blog

So I created this blog to document my new career in commercial real estate. So far things are going great. I have begun the apprenticeship program with NAI Utah Commercial Real Estate. The program consists of a 3 year commitment. The first 3 months is a competition. My group started with 7 guys. Each of us came from different background, some with real estate experience, some not. The day is spit into two portions, driving, which consists of documenting commercial properties in a specific geographical area, and cold calling that is exactly what it sounds like. The scores for the competition are heavily weighted to the cold calling. The driving portion is only 20% of the total score. Things for me started off great. I was able to catch onto the driving very quickly and pass the preliminary test on the first day. I then was very blessed to run into a lead while driving before we even started calling. To make a long story short, we are now half way through the competition phase and there are only 2 of us left. I am in the lead with 36 leads and over 80 call backs. I am hopeful to break the record which is 70 leads.

The next phase of the apprenticeship is in the research department where I will hopefully be the office research specialist. I will do that for the remainder of the first year. I then will be placed with one of the real estate teams and be a full apprentice for the remaining 2 year.

I am very excited about the future. I am really enjoying what I am doing! This is the first time in my life that I can say I am excited to go to work in the morning!
